OUR MATERIAL MERINO WOOL AND WHY WE USE IT

As a natural, renewable resource, merino wool is versatile and eco-friendly. It provides superior insulation and moisture-wicking abilities, making it ideal for various weather conditions. Merino wool is not only soft, comforting, and healing but also naturally odor-resistant, crease-proof, and highly durable, maintaining its appearance and shape over time. As a natural fiber, wool is also biodegradable, with low impact on the environment. These qualities make merino wool long-lasting and highly sustainable.

In a market dominated by synthetics, wool remains a high-quality, sustainable niche resource, with remarkable possibilities for innovation and craftsmanship. Wool's enduring value aligns seamlessly with ANN's commitment to sustainable fashion and keeping traditional textile crafting alive in a modern, eco-conscious world.

WHERE DOES OUR MERINO WOOL COME FROM

The beautiful sources of our ecological wool, Merino sheep, live in the Bavarian farms and fields in southern Germany. The wool is spun in a family-run spinning mill in the third generation, where every production step is done in-house, emphasizing regional sourcing, quality, craftsmanship, and fair treatment of shepherds.

OUR PRODUCTS ARE HAND-MADE BY SKILLED WOMEN IN GERMANY

Knitting wool is an ancient technique that has existed for thousands of years. Our pieces are knitted by skilled artisan women in Germany. Everyone with a different background and a different approach. That makes our products unique. As social aspects and the well-being of people working for ANN are our top priorities, we are fascinated by the recent studies showing that knitting offers significant mental health benefits, often likened to meditation and mindfulness.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR WOOL PRODUCTS

Merino wool is self-cleaning. Most of the time it is enough just to air the product. If you would like to wash your products, please only use cold water (max 30 °C) and wash by hand with mild detergents like liquids or a small portion of washing powder. Never use fabric softeners or bleach. Dry your products flat. As merino wool is a natural fiber, some pilling may appear. You can remove it with a special wool comb.
